Game day can be an exciting occasion, bringing friends and family together to enjoy sports and, of course, delicious food. Traditional game day foods often lean towards high-calorie options, which can make it tricky to stick to a weight loss plan. However, incorporating high-protein foods can be a satisfying alternative that keeps energy levels up so you can cheer on your team while also helping with fat loss.

Johnny Hadac, a weight loss coach who has over 730K followers on TikTok, shared a high-protein BBQ sandwich recipe that’s the perfect choice for game day fun while also helping you with losing “10 pounds in a month.” Read on to get all the details.

High-Protein BBQ Chicken Sandwich

Ingredients: 1 package of coleslaw mix, 3/4 cup light mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 2 pounds diced chicken breast, 1 container G Hughes BBQ sauce, and 8 low-carb buns toasted.

Instructions: In a crockpot, add 2 pounds of chicken breast, season it with onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, and 1 whole container of sugar-free BBQ sauce. Let the chicken cook on high for 2-3 hours or on low for 4-6. When the chicken is cooked, go ahead and shred it with forks. In the meantime, toast your buns and make the colesaw mix. In a bowl, add the coleslaw mix, light mayo, red wine vinegar (or apple cider vinegar), and dijon mustard. Mix well. When the buns are done toasting, add a scoop of the chicken on top of a bun and top with the coleslaw.

Each serving contains 391 calories, 50g protein, 13g carbs, and 23g fat.

Weight Loss Benefits

With 50 grams of protein per serving, this sandwich can help you feel fuller for longer and reduce the likelihood of snacking on a high-calorie option later in the day.

The recipe is also low in calories compared to other traditional game day foods, which allows you to indulge without worrying about excessive calorie intake.

Ingredients such as coleslaw mix provide nutrients from vegetables, while sugar-free BBQ sauce still gives it that smoky flavor without added sugar and calories!

Remember, weight loss becomes notable when you focus on nutritious meals, practice moderation and portion control, exercise regularly, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
