If you are trying to lose weight, you might be incorporating more salads into your regular diet to incorporate more whole veggies and other healthy foods into your regular routine. Although this is a good idea, it is important to keep in mind that whatever salad you make is only as healthy as the dressing you choose.

With that in mind, keep reading for the one dressing you should stop using ASAP for weight loss!

Ranch Dressing

Steering clear of ranch dressing is a good idea for anyone looking to shed a few pounds. Ranch, like other creamy salad dressings, packs in the calories and fat, making it an unlikely (and unhealthy) companion to a healthy salad dish.

Many brands also contain added sugar and sodium, amounting to one unhealthy topping.

Depending on what brand of ranch you choose, you could be consuming a lot of unwanted ingredients. According to Delish, one tablespoon of ranch contains 63.2 calories and 6.7 grams total fat--which is more than one chocolate chip cookie.

Plus, that estimate is on the lower end of the spectrum. According to Eat This, Not That!, some ranch dressings contain way more. For example, two tablespoons of Ken's Buttermilk Ranch contains 170 calories and 19 grams of fat.

With this information in mind, avoiding store-bought ranch dressings is one way of keeping your diet (and weight loss goals) on track. Plus, you don't need to avoid ranch altogether.

Instead, try this homemade healthy ranch dressing from Show Me The Yummy, which uses Greek yogurt to achieve that traditional creamy texture.
