JD Vance Tells Graduates They Can’t ‘Boo’ Him During Commencement Speech
Speakers at the University of Central Florida, the University of Arizona, and Middle Tennessee State University were booed by graduating students for their remarks about artificial intelligence, a topic that is quite controversial for recent graduates trying to enter the workforce. Apparently wanting to protect himself from potential boos, Vice President JD Vance warned students in advance that he doesn’t want to hear any boos from the audience.
“You know, this is the only commencement speech that I’m giving this year and so I’ve watched a few highlights of graduation speeches where this or that corporate leader will discuss artificial intelligence, AI, and be met with literal boos,” Vance said in his speech. “Now, you can’t boo me. I’m the vice president of the United States.” While most of the audience received the quip as a joke and offered a few laughs, most of social media wasn’t entertained.

Social Media Reactions
Across social media platforms, users generally agreed it was a pretty pathetic joke to make. "If you have to say it then you don't command respect through leadership," one person wrote in an Instagram comment.
"Respect is earned not forced," agreed the next person.
"How sad is that?" a third comment reads.
"Does he think he's special?" asked another. "He literally works for the people and if they don't like what he's saying they have the right to let him know."
"Boo hoo get over yourself," another user wrote.
"The entitlement is real," added the next.
"The students are booing you because they know you are a liar," a final user wrote.
