There are few things more frustrating than when your smartphone runs out of storage, and you feel overwhelmed with where to begin freeing up some space.

Most smartphone users, whether they have an iPhone or Android, have experienced low or full storage. When a phone is left with no storage space, it often can start lagging, dying quickly, and more, which makes your experience more difficult instead of convenient. If you’re ready to start freeing up some room on your phone before it starts doing that, here are two things you can start getting rid of.

1. Videos

The camera roll tends to be something that takes up a whole lot of space on people's smartphones, especially if they're not paying for an extra storage plan to make more room. Instead of scrolling through every single one of your pictures, try starting with your videos, as there's a good chance you've got some you can get rid of.

"Videos, especially older ones you've forgotten about, can quietly consume tens of gigabytes before you notice," explains tech cleaning pro Yelizaveta Kasian. "Head into your Photos app and sort by Videos to delete anything you no longer need."

2. Cached App & Browser Data

Smartphones are able to hold onto a lot more than people seem to realize, just how much data and files the modern-day smartphone can hold. When your storage is running low, it's always a good idea to clear app cache and your browser's cache. Getting rid of these files and data can make more of an impact on your storage space than you may realize.

"Cached app data from apps like Instagram, Facebook, or Safari stores enormous amounts of temporary data on your device that most users never think to clear," says Kasian. "Go into Settings for apps like Safari and clear cached data manually."
