We’re officially less than one month from election day in the United States, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reminding us just how important it is to vote in their first prime-time TV appearance.
The power couple recently appeared on ABC’s TIME100 special for the latest ranking of the 100 most influential people in the world, as according to TIME Magazine. While celebrities and politicians made the cut for TIME’s 2020 ranking, Harry and Meghan remind us that we too can make an impact by voting in this year’s election.
The Sept. 22 ABC special coincidentally aired on National Voter Registration Day and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took the time to encourage Americans to cast their votes.

“We’re six weeks out from the election and today is Voter Registration Day,” Meghan said during the special, as HuffPost reported. “Every four years, we are told the same thing ― ‘This is the most important election of our lifetime.’ But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard.”
Meghan and Harry also advocated for an end to what can often be a toxic environment on the internet.
“As we approach this November, it’s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity. What we consume, what we are exposed to and what we engage with online has a real effect on all of us,” Harry shared.
The former royal couple will certainly be no stranger to our television screens in the coming months ahead since they have recently signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. As PEOPLE reported, Harry and Meghan’s production company will make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming for the streaming platform. How amazing is that?!
