Many people are speculating that Melania’s absence may be correlated to the recent renegotiation of her prenuptial agreement. Sources are saying she has “quietly” updated her prenup for more financial security for her and her son Barron, amid the former president’s recent legal battles. While it is not unusual for Melania to miss campaign events, other candidates have had their wives by their side throughout the campaign trail.

The former first lady is reportedly taking care of her and Donald’s son, Barron. According to a source close to the family, the new prenup would “provide a more solid future” for Melania and Barron, 17, if a divorce were to occur. Sources also say that this is the third time she’s renegotiated her prenup since she and Donald wed in 2005.

Why Change the Prenup (Again)?
The former president is currently involved in many costly legal battles, most recently being ordered to pay $5M to author E. Jean Carroll, who is now seeking $250M in a civil suit. This, among other suits, has rang alarm bells for Melania, who is “worried” about how much money will be left over. Because of this, the former model finds it “necessary” to rewrite the prenup, for both her’s and Barron’s sake.;
An exclusive report from The New York Post breaks it down: The updated contract not only provides more cash and real estate for the Slovenian-American model, but also secures more protection for Barron. “Melania is most concerned about maintaining and increasing a substantial trust for their son,” a source told the Post.
Melania’s Absence Is Not Unusual
The former first lady kept a low profile throughout the past two election cycles that her husband has been involved in. She rarely participated in any virtual or in-person events during the 2020 election cycle, and mostly spent time taking care of Barron during the 2016 cycle. Barron was 10 at the time. Melania has also been absent from Trump’s court appearances, while other family members including Donald Trump Jr., Eric, and Ivanka have stood by his side.
