Last month, it was reported that Buckingham Palace was making secret arrangements for Prince William to take the throne amid his father King Charles III‘s cancer diagnosis. We learned at the time that Prince Harry was kept out of the loop because, to quote royal author Thomas Quinn, “no one trusts Harry.”
Quinn told The Mirror at the time: “Succession planning is highly secret and no one trusts Harry to be part of it for the simple reason that if he feels in any way slighted or not given what he feels he deserves he will run straight to the media.”
Despite King Charles putting on a brave face amid his cancer treatment, the palace is still making arrangements for the current heir to the throne – just in case! – which is reportedly causing him and wife Kate Middleton “intense anxiety.”

Prince William And Kate Middleton Are Reportedly Anxious About His 'Frightening Proximity' To Ascending The Throne
According to The Diana Chronicles author Tina Brown, who penned an opinion piece for The New York Times, King Charles' cancer battle puts the Prince of Wales "in frightening proximity to ascending the throne." And that, she explains, makes him Kate, who is currently going through her own cancer battle, extremely anxious.
"The prospect of it, I am told, is causing them intense anxiety," Brown explained, adding that the Prince and Princess of Wales had "hoped for a span of years to parent their children out of the public eye." But if they become the new King and Queen of England, that obviously won't happen!
Prince William And Kate Middleton Are 'Under Unmanageable Pressure'
The former Vanity Fair editor-in-chief also went on to say that all the drama surrounding the royal family at this very moment – including the feud with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the release of Scoop, the Netflix movie about the infamous interview about Prince Andrew's friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein – have put the couple "under unmanageable pressure."
Kate is also feeling the pressure due to her extreme popularity with the public. "Catherine is the most popular member of the royal family after William," Brown wrote, adding, "The future of the monarchy hangs by a thread, and that thread is her."
"A tidal wave of premature responsibility is crashing in her and William's direction," Brown continued. "Frozen, unready and with Catherine now seriously unwell, the Prince and Princess of Wales await the awesome burden of the crown."
