Beloved Good Morning America (GMA) anchor Robin Roberts just returned to the show— via a virtual screen— on January 26th, after a week-long absence. Roberts, 61, previously announced to her Twitter followers on January 20th that she tested positive for and contracted COVID-19, but explained that her symptoms were “mild” and that she was “doing well.” We can’t help but wonder, when will she return to the show in-person?
Roberts fulfilled her duty as GMA‘s co-anchor live Wednesday, appearing virtually alongside and speaking with co-hosts Michael Strahan, George Stephanopoulos and Cecilia Vega (who filled in for her last week). “Michael, Cecilia, and I are so happy to welcome Robin back from home,” Stephanopoulos said to viewers.
Roberts revealed that she was feeling “much better” and tested negative on Tuesday. “I strive to be a positive person. I have never been so thankful to be and test negative as I did yesterday and this morning,” she said.
This week, Roberts uploaded a series of comical and lighthearted Instagram posts to update fans on her COVID-19 experience.

She is seen in one Wednesday video saying to her dog, “good morning little man Lukas, is this 2020 again?” before laughing and thanking fans for their well wishes and telling GMA viewers that she “missed them” and is doing “much, much better.”
She then read morning prayers and words of encouragement to her 750,000 followers as she petted her dog. Her caption read, “grateful for all the love and support. Bless you all! And thankful to be back on GMA from my home studio. Here’s a little #WednesdayWisdom for you. #cmon” with a winking face and red heart emoji.
A few hours later, she also shared an adorable photo of her partner, Amber Laign sleeping with their dog on a couch. Roberts wrote in her caption, “Feeling well enough to do @goodmorningamerica from the home studio this morn. Sweet Amber & my “pawducer” @lil_man_lukas are a little out of practice helping me out. Yes, I know, I’m gonna get in trouble…again!” Aww!

Roberts also runs an account for her dog Lukas, and shared a video of her preparing to host GMA from his point of view, writing, “Feels great to be back on the job” with a heart emoji and hashtags, “#2020Redo, #PawDucer #GetYourRescueOn.” We can’t get enough of her wholesome and heartwarming posts.

We, like millions of GMA viewers are so happy to hear (and see from tweets and photos) that Roberts is doing well. It is unclear when she will physically return to the show and how long she will tune in virtually. Time will tell, but fans continue to comment supportive messages on the television personality’s social media posts, along with her co-hosts and fellow reporters.
