Shakira Slammed For Plugging Her North American Tour After Leaving Concertgoers 'High And Dry' With Canceled Tour Dates: 'Utterly Unfair And Disrespectful'

Shakira has faced quite a bit of controversy these past few years, and is once again causing a stir – this time, for adding new North American dates to her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, despite not refunding fans for her previous canceled tour dates.

The “Soltera” singer was expected to start the North American leg of her highly-anticipated tour next month. However, she announced last week that she would be canceling the shows and embarking on a bigger tour in stadiums, as opposed to arenas and smaller venues, the following year. And as expected, many of her fans were unhappy with this decision!

Shakira Announces New North American Tour Dates On Instagram

On Monday, October 21st, the “She Wolf” hitmaker announced that the tour will now kick off on May 13th, 2025 at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. She will reportedly end her North American tour at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California on June 30th.

“Here are my new 2025 North America dates,” the “El Jefe” singer wrote on Monday. “I’m so excited to share my best show yet with you. Thank you all for supporting and inspiring me to keep pushing myself. I can’t wait to celebrate with you in May!” she added, alongside a red heart emoji.

However, while some fans were excited to see their favorite singer perform a bigger show next year, many others were angry that they hadn’t been refunded for their original tickets. And as many fans complained about the extortionate ticket prices when they went on sale earlier this year, we’re not surprised! Fans were also less than thrilled that they had to wait even longer for the performance, while others were unhappy that she had chosen to perform in stadiums as opposed to more intimate venues.

Shakira's Fans Voice Their Anger On Social Media

"She didn't reschedule, she canceled former dates leaving fans high and dry," wrote one angry fan on a Good Morning America Instagram post about Shakira's new tour dates.

"Canceled and not even refunded yet! She should give us our refund at least before to announce more dates," wrote a second disappointed fan, as a third noted: "Not a new tour, new dates cancelling old dates without a refund on tickets and we are all screwed because we had already flight tickets, hotels booked… not fun Shakira, terrible organization."

"Boycott Shakira," wrote another disgruntled fan, as another added: "Phoenix venue's the same and her prices are outrageous compared to her El Dorado tour." "She was supposed to perform in San Antonio next month. She canceled her arena tour to sell more tickets on a stadium tour. It won't matter how big her stage is, bring binoculars," wrote another angry fan.

The comments weren't any better on her own Instagram account, with many fans thinking she should have just added extra stadium dates to her tour, as opposed to rescheduling the existing tour dates. "I'm so DISAPPOINTED! Not only the tickets were so expensive, but my friend and I got the day of work and not all hotels are refundable! Shakira, I expected better from you," wrote one fan.

"So disappointed," echoed a second, followed by a crying emoji, adding: "For months we have been saving up, buying our outfits, booking our airbnb for you to cancel last minute. You lost 4 loyal fans and disappointed us. Just to do a bigger stadium… the humane and respectful [thing] to have done is to deliver what was proposed then added more venues."

"This was a bad call Shakira, you could have just added performances at the same venues. I feel for all those who booked hotels and flights for canceled dates," wrote a third. "The most frustrating part is that you don't even have the decency to acknowledge that some of us are trying to recover the money we spent on tickets," wrote a fourth, before exclaiming: "It's utterly unfair and disrespectful to your fans!"

Another fan said: "It's so incredibly [expletive] to cancel an arena tour because you realized you could make more money with stadiums. Especially with such short notice. If I were traveling to a show, I'd be livid. But I saw Shakira once in 2006 and she has THE SAME choreography all this time later so just put on YouTube at this point and save your money." Yikes!
